Year-Old Meaghan Henderson Becomes PSCA's Youngest Event Winner...
For
the past several years when Don & Bunny Henderson rolled into Las
Vegas Motor Speedway for the Annual Labor Day race that ran PSCA
cars at night and Jr's during the day. Winning the Jr Dragster class
that daughter Meaghan competed in was always one of their dreams..
But this time was a little different, yes the she still ran the Jr.
during the day, but at night she rolled out the Vogue Marine Center
Boat & RV Storage 7-sec Dragster powered by a Fauset Racing Engine
to compete in the Calvert Racing Bracket-1 class!!!
After 2 long hot days of racing, Sunday night
PSCA Eliminations was a refreshing break as the temps dropped to a
comfortable level. In round one, Meaghan lost to LVMS regular Scott
Horsley in his familiar '55 Chevy in a double breakout. Lucky for the
young Henderson, the PSCA has 1st round loser buybacks, so
for a mere $20 Meaghan was back in the game. It was now around 9pm and
the Henderson family has been racing since 8am but you couldn't tell as
they started to find their grove and march through the competitors. 2nd
round victim was a past PSCA event winner Andy Pressimore, 3rd
round she beat Ken Spears and ran an almost perfect pass (5.20 light and
7.729 on a 7.72 dial) Round 4 she beat a past PSCA Bracket-1 winner Josh
Edwards with a 7.713 on a 7.71 dial and forced Edwards to break out by
7-thousandths. The Semi-Finals was Meaghan's easiest run as Robert
Broguiere had starting line issues and the car simply did not move..
In the Finals, "The Pizza Man" Carl Cannavo and his "Blazin' Bell
Tech" sponsored Dragster was the only one left in Meaghan's way and her
1st PSCA victory. Henderson won earlier this year in her Jr.
Dragster, but a win in her big car would be a dream come true!!! As the
lights dropped, she left Carl at the line with her 5.20 R/T to his 5.90
and that's all Meaghan needed to notch her 1st win and become
PSCA's youngest winner at just barely 17 years-old.
Meaghan would like to thank her family
especially dad and crew chief Don, mom Bunny, Chris Blair and the staff
at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Vogue Marine Center Boat & RV Storage,
Fauset Racing Engines and the PSCA for a very memorable Labor Day
Weekend..
