Meadors Speeds to Semi Finals in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA - It was a scorcher in Sacramento last weekend for freshman Pro Mod racer Marc Meadors and the Goodguys Racing '69 Camaro. Making his return to competition with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association, Meadors and the Goodguys Racing crew were looking for their second win of the season at the 33rd annual Nitro Night of Fire and had to roll the dice to do it.

After making a motor-wounding 6.37 @ 223 test run Friday, the team missed Friday's opening round of qualifying leaving them with a one-shot, qualify-or-go-home run on Saturday afternoon in 107 degree heat! The silver Camaro streaked to a 6.354 @ 227.9 to grab the 3rd position in the 8-car program. >Read More<

Back to the Future with George Klass

IRVINE, CA - One neat thing about drag racing is that it is very easy to describe to folks that know nothing about it.

"It's an acceleration contest in a straight line, between two cars, to see who can get to the finish line first."

I was having a discussion the other day with Carl Olson, the SFI Motorsports Manager. Carl was a drag racer in his younger days, drove a Top Fuel dragster for many years when dragsters had the engines in front of the drivers (I lost interest in dragsters and Indy cars when they stuck the engines behind the drivers, but I digress). Carl won plenty of drag races including Top Eliminator at the final race held at Lions Drag Strip.  >Read More<

Carpenter Tunes Walker to 2nd Consecutive win!!

FONTANA, CA -  Pro Mod racer Charles Carpenter has made a huge impression on the West Coast Pro Street crowd by tuning Palm Desert, Calif., racer Randy Walker to consecutive wins and now the points lead in PSCA's Pro Street class.

Walker's 1974 El Camino used the last qualifying session on Saturday of the Probe Industries California Nationals to leap past Clint Hairston and Tim Henry with an impressive 6.376/219.72 blast down the very hot Auto Club Dragway (Fontana, Calif.) surface to take the pole going into Sunday's eliminations.

With bracket car consistency, Randy and the Walker Autoworks team put together runs of 6.399, 6.382 and 6.394 to earn their way to the final round against a fellow nitrous competitor, Kelly Bluebaugh. The final round was as good as it gets when Walker left the starting line first and beat the quicker Bluebaugh 6.474 to 6.461. We'll have complete results later in the week.

The Walker Autoworks crew will look to increase their points leads at the next PSCA event "MagnaFuel" Summer Nationals to be held June 19-20 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Meadors Runs Career Best In Sacramento!!!

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Goodguys Racing, Red Line Oil and Comp Cams-sponsored '69 Camaro Pro Mod coupe driven by Marc Meadors of Danville, CA was back on track this past weekend going for glory at the annual Funny Car Fever event at Sacramento Raceway Park.

The Goodguys Racing Team was on hand to compete in the special 8-car exhibition field promoted by the popular West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association. Coming off his first-ever career Pro Mod win at last month's Super Chevy Sunday event in Fontana, California, Meadors again raised eyebrows as he and the team were able to qualify for the eliminator field in the #6 spot with a conservative 7.009 @ 185.31 on the tricky track surface.

But the real fireworks came in Saturday's opening round of eliminations.  Stuck in the track's infamous left lane (a historically treacherous racing surface with a tricky bump about half way down) Meadors charged straight downtrack to record a career-best run, clicking off a 6.429 @ 218.04 mph. Despite the heroic effort, Meadors came up just inches short of defeating his fellow competitor Jay Diedrich who ran a 6.443 at a slightly faster 222.56mph. Ignoring the narrow loss, the magnitude of Meadors' run in the track's bad lane was not lost on the event organizer's who called it "perhaps the run of the day."

While it's never easy leaving eliminations early, the Goodguys Racing Team is now supremely confident they can compete with the West Coast's fastest Pro Mods under any conditions at any track. "I'm really proud of this team," said a smiling Marc Meadors in the pits after the event. Jason Bunker, Jeff Accacian, Andy Ferreira and "Six Pound" Billy Fereira are some of the best in this business. These cars are monsters. Harnessing their brute strength and finessing them down tricky track surfaces is not easy. We will be a handful at the next event.

Next up for the Goodguys Racing team is the PSCA California Nationals May 15-16-17 in Fontana. For a look at the team, including photos, team news and more, visit www.meadorsracing.com.

"Nuke" Shatters The PSCA Outlaw 10.5 MPH Record!!!

LAS VEGAS, NV - One year ago at the 2008 PSCA Las Vegas Nationals, Greg "Nuke" Seth-Hunter (Nickname "Nuke" was given by friends after Greg continuously melted down several engines) of Simi Valley California was testing his awesome '70 Nova and something terribly went wrong. Greg crashed going thru the traps and nearly totaled out the Outlaw car. Well, One year after that very forgettable date, Seth-Hunter notched his 1st ever PSCA victory and shattered the MPH record in the process!!! Not only did Greg win the event, he set personal bests in ET & MPH (6.972/209.10)  The 209.10 is the PSCA New Accufab Outlaw 10.5 MPH Record... Seth-Hunter now has a share of the PSCA Outlaw 10.5 points lead and will do what it takes to win the Championship!! Probe Industries "California Nationals" May 15-17 at Fontana, CA. will be the next PSCA event.

The light at the end of the tunnel is starting to come into view for Pro Street racer Yvonne Lucas as her '68 Camaro was delivered to the painter this week.  Construction has been ongoing at Redline Race Cars of Longview, WA since last Fall and the results have been stellar so far.  After paint and a quick trip to the air brusher, the wiring will be tackled and final assembly will be completed.  "We are very anxious to get out there and test.  The Northwest is still under heavy rain but we hope to see track time in April and we look forward to joining PSCA for as many race events as possible."

From what I gather, the current PSCA Outlaw Champion Ron Weems was really giving Gary a hard time about not running a heads-up class!! Mr. Weems might have to look over in the opposite lane this weekend as Gary has ordered tires and wheels and should give Ron a run for the money!!!

Calvert Racing Suspensions Raises The Bar In 2009...

Calvert Racing Suspensions is proud to announce their 10th year of support of the Pacific Street Car Association and their racers. As in the past, we will continue our Contingency support in 2009 on Our Caltrac Traction Bars. This year we have decided to step up to the Class Title Sponsor for Bracket-1 in the PSCA and SCSN series. We believe this will be a great opportunity with added exposure for Calvert Racing, the PSCA, and especially the grassroots racer.

Over the past few seasons, Calvert Racing Products has had great success in several of the PSCA classes; both Heads-Up & Bracket. Last year Wild Street racer Al Jimenez not only won the 2008 Championship but is now considered the Fastest and Quickest Leaf Spring car in the World 7.56 / 187mph. Right behind Al was George Raygoza, the 2008 runner up and past two time True Street Champion. A quick fact about Raygoza, George has been to more final rounds than any racer in the history of the PSCA. What do both of these racers have in common?? Brodix Continues Support Of The PSCA And Our Racers....

For the 8th consecutive season, Brodix Cylinder Heads signs on as an Official PSCA, Contingency & Points Championship Sponsor for 2009...

BRODIX originated from a jobbing foundry, which produced all types of high quality aluminum castings.  Very high strength alloys were the specialty of Francis Dix, the "Dix" in BRODIX. His family had a long history in the foundry industry. Along came J.V. Brotherton the "Bro" in BRODIX and married Paula, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy Dix. J.V.'s hobby was racing automobiles.

J.V. had a fascination with cylinder heads that ultimately led to the production of an aluminum Hemi head in 1971. Mopar reintroduced their aluminum Hemi head in 1972 and gave them to their racers. Needless to say, this was not a good thing for aftermarket Hemi sales. Regrouping, a small block Chevy head was made in 1973 and the rest has been history. The ability to make close tolerance, high strength castings has been the benchmark of BRODIX. >READ MORE<

Pypes Performance Exhaust Joins The PSCA

The PSCA would like to introduce Pypes Performance Exhaust as an Official PSCA and Contingency Sponsor for the 2009 Racing Season!!!

In the late nineties, the entire classic car hobby began to express an increased interest in performance.

Pypes established relationships with existing performance exhaust companies and began offering their products to our customer base. Unfortunately, no one supplier could provide a complete solution. Crossovers (x pipes) came from one company, tailpipes from another, mufflers from several more companies and hardware from yet another company.

Pricing was also a big concern; full systems cost customers in excess of $750! In 2002 we decided to investigate producing Pypes exhaust systems and in 2003 Pypes Performance Exhaust was formed. >READ MORE<

Mock May Be Down, But Not Out......

Mock Motorsports has suffered  a massive setback in their racing program with the ever eroding economy.  Still waiting for the "change" to happen.... Mock Motorsports may sit out at least another season in Pro Street.  Jimmy Mock, president of CDR Concrete Inc. a residential foundation sub-contractor was overheard saying "we are eagerly awaiting the resurgence of home building in the southern California area under the new administration".  In the meantime, Brian Smith is finishing up the updates to the 51 Chevy, with a new back half, new body and a new look.  With the introduction of the new PSCA class "Street Challenge" Jimmy has decided to break the world famous "Four Door" out of the Mock Museum and dust her off.  "That class is a perfect fit for the four door, other than she's a little heavy, being a REAL street car that is fully registered and insured".  Mock Motorsports does look forward to the eventual return of the Pacific Rebar, CEMEX, RacePak Data Systems, FST Sand & Gravel and Fleming Concrete Pumping sponsored 51 Chevy! Most likely by Summertime :)

A New Pro Street Racer is Created....

Hanging around Bluebaugh Racing has had a contagious affect on Quick Street Racer Joe Alsworth. For 2009 he has traded out his '65 GTO and is aspiring to turn his 9 second career best upside down, shooting for the 6's. Alsworth who worked on the crew for Bluebaugh Racing in 2008, purchased a Victory Race Cars '38 Coupe after seasons end to join Bluebaugh in a two car nitrous Pro Street team for 2009. The '38 was purchased turn key with a naturally aspirated 572. Alsworth spent December getting some much needed seat time running in the low 8's before work would start to ready the car for real competition. The car is currently at Bluebaugh's WFO Racing and Machine shop undergoing an extensive upgrade in order to meet the challenges of the ever faster growing field presented by the Pro Street class. Bluebaugh and Alsworth have already fitted the '38 with a WFO 728 Racing Engine and three stages of nitrous. Bluebaugh said, there were a number of things the car needed. We have ordered a new Bickel 40-spline rear end, Race Pak computer system, a new Hughes Performance Transmission, on board fire system, and much more. Alsworth and Bluebaugh have been working late hour's everyday in hopes of making the first PSCA race in Phoenix though it will only be to test and license. Alsworth plans to spend a good portion of 2009 getting used to the car.

Sikora Hits The Jackpot At Vegas Test Session....

If you would have asked 3-time PSCA Outlaw 10.5 Champion Doug Sikora if posting a career best ET while shaking down his new ProCharged combo would make him happy, he probably would of came back with some sort of sarcastic remark... In 2008 Sikora struggled finding the magical 6-sec 200 MPH mark when he was nitrous assisted, and it almost drove him crazy. Well, in Las Vegas this past weekend on the 5th pass with the new set-up, a 6.95/205 popped up on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway scoreboards and his highly talented crew knew they were on the finally right track!! Doug backed up that run with a 6.94/205.96!! The PSCA Outlaw 10.5 class is going to be highly contested in 2009 as many teams have made the necessary changes to challenge the 2007 & 2008 Champion Ron Weems. PSCA's 1st event of 2009 will be Feb 6-8 with the Hughes Performance Arizona Nationals at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona.

2009 PSCA Officially Underway In Las Vegas!!!!

The 2009 racing season is officially off and running as PSCA cars gathered in Las Vegas with almost per race conditions!! 2008 Pro Street rookies (Mike Maggio & Bart Smith) were putting in some laps with Maggio laying down a career best of 6.67 / 211   Bart Smith made major changes to his blown Willey's and never made a decent pass. Allen Stewart (Pictured Above) had his teammate and brother get successfully licensed to back-up the Stewart Racing entry... The car ran it's best "Motor Only" pass during the day (9.45) and they will squeeze the Camaro on Sunday. Another XDR car (Chris Pack) made some very good "Motor Only" runs posting an impressive 9.25

Many time PSCA Champion Doug Sikora.. debuted his new ProCharged Small Block combo with pretty good results.. Doug went 7.22 / 193 on it's 1st real full pass!! Another 10.5 car Derek Przeginiak, came down from cold and snowy Canada to enjoy the Vegas weather. After spending most of the day changing a torque converter they rushed up as lanes were being closed and blasted a very easy 184mpg pass!!! Wild Streeter Rodney Bohanan struggled with tire spin and never put up any good numbers.. Former Mean Street Champion Ron DeHoop was going rounds in LVMS Pro Bracket class.. Other PSCA Index & Bracket regulars; Dick Krieger, Steve Westlund, Bob McArthur, Neil Evans, Steve Bushey, Andy Pressimore, Charlie Boyd, Dan Reauhme, Jeff Farrar and Carl Cannarvo to name a few were all here and running strong. Gates open at 6am on Sunday with racing from 8am - 5pm

Sikora Racing Going To Raise The Bar In Outlaw 10.5

When Doug Sikora made his return to PSCA Outlaw Racing in 2008, he built what he knew best.. A Mustang with a Small Block Ford Nitrous assisted powerplant.  About 6 months into the process, Sikora knew that with the types of cars and ET's that are starting to show up in the Outlaw class that change was necessary..  After consulting with many well known people in the racing business, Sikora decided to switch combo's and install a ProCharger and Fuel Injection which was all new to this heads-up veteran. Doug will start the on track testing this upcoming weekend at the PSCA Warm-ups at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in preparation for the PSCA season opener Feb 6-8 in Phoenix, AZ.

Sikora Racing would like to give thanks to the following people and companies that helped with the transformation; Jason at Pettis Performance, Giuseppe Gentile, Job Spetter at Turbo People, Bob & Sana Remillard, Dave W. & Jim Summers at ProCharger, Lou's Performance, Brandt Racing, Roger at RacePak, Accufab Throttle Bodies and Greg at GPE.

Plenty Of Blood, Sweat & Tears Went Into This Nova...

Rick Holly's Nova is finally done and ready to run.  Rick has spent the last 3 years trying to get a combination to stay together that would pull the 3600 lb Nova down the track at an 8:60 et.  Rick is going to be running in the Super Street class and intends to make all of the 2009 races.  The car is a small block Chevrolet motor 406ci. Blown and Injected on alcohol that dyno tested 1,280 HP and 1,086 FPT.   Rick and crew are defiantly looking forward to the new year and the heavy competition in Super Street with Brian Rogers and Doug Crumlich leading the way.

More Inches And A 4th System For A Top Nitrous Pro Streeter

After running a career best 6.41 at the Street Car Super Nationals last November, Tim Henry as happy, just was not satisfied... With so many of the PSCA Pro Street cars already in the high to low 30's Tim shipped his 737 to his engine builder (Some guy named Pat Musi, we'll try and get more details on this guy at a later date) 770ci will now propel the Steve Grebek built Pontiac Firebird and just for the heck of it, they threw on a 4th Edelbrock Nitrous system just in case ;) The car also ahs shed a few pounds to get closer to the PSCA minimum weight for nitrous entries..

The Con-Quest Concrete Team will be missing a very important part of their team as crew chief Paul Henry will be undergoing knee replacement surgery on Jan 26th and is expected to be a making tuning decisions via the cell phone... But don't expect this set-back to slow the team down too much as veteran Pro Stock legend's Joe Lepone and Pat Musi will be on hand in Phoenix to sort out the new combo at the PSCA Season Opener!!!

Tim & Paul Henry would like to Thank Pat Musi Performance and Edelbrock Corporation for their help, advice and support.

Wholesale Changes In Store For The Wild Heavy Chevy....

After running career best ET's and MPHs in 2008, Mickey Thompson Tires Wild Street racer Armen Maghdessian knew he could never compete with the new boosted entry's that keep popping up in the 275 Radial Class with his current nitrous oxide combo... We are not at liberty to give all the details of the new power plant at the present time other than it's still a BBC with new dual carburetor setup with twin foggers!!!!! 2009 is going to be a blast!!!

2008 W/S Champ To Change Combo.....

San Fernando Valley resident Al Jimenez and his 1972 BBC ProCharged Camaro won the 2008 Mickey Thompson Tires Wild Street Championship!!! Al's ET's in the 7.50 range had the PSCA rules makers scrambling to find parity in one of the series most popular classes... Jimenez' big block F-3 was banned for 2009, but that did not stop Al and his very talented Lou's Performance Race Team. Rumor has it that a new LS1 and a ProCharger F2 SuperCharger will huffing and puffing down the 1320 in an attempt to defend his well deserved Championship....

2009 Wild Street Might Just Get A Little Interesting.....

Back in early 2006, Surprise, Arizona resident Rod Oxford was terrorizing the 275 Radial Tire guys in the Mickey Thompson Tires Wild Street Class.... In 2007, Rod stepped up to Outlaw 10.5, earned a win and 2 runner-ups on his way to finish 3rd in the points.... Oxford took the 2008 season off and now we were just informed that a 1969 Camaro (Not Pictured) will be the staging lanes this season with Rod behind the wheel...

It's Official..... Gliddens' To Match Race Cobra Jet's In Vegas

PSCA & SCSN President Mel Roth announces today that Ford Racing icons Bob and Bill Glidden, will battle each other in a best 2 out of 3 grudge race at the Street Car Super Nationals IV November 20-23, 2008 at the Strip in Las Vegas. Both Glidden's will be in Limited Production Ford Racing "Cobra Jet" Mustangs and the gloves will be off between these two Ford Racing legends!!!

Roth states "We knew there was a chance with both Glidden's being here racing in the Accufab Outlaw 10.5 class that they might line up against each other during the weekend, but now there's a new twist as both father & son will be in equally matched hot rods and the best Glidden will prevail".

Jim D'Amore from JDM Engineering brought up the idea and Jesse Kershaw from Ford Motorsports made it happen with (2) 2008 Ford factory built race Mustangs we knew it would be a crowd pleaser. Bob and Bill will also be signing both cars as many other Ford Racing Legends will be doing in the weeks prior. Round 1 of the epic battle will take place on Saturday at high noon, with Rounds 2 & 3 (If necessary) taking place on Sunday with the times TBA.

Team Black Returns to the Fight with a Big Gun!!!

Story & Photo by Eric Lenore

Four time PSCA Pro Street Champ Ed Thornton and the famous black '57 Chevy that he drove have been missing from heads-up racing headlines for most of the year.  When an offer for the '57 came in from Australia, Ed and his popular crew (Shane T, Doug Stewart, Tom "Mr. Clean" Esbri, Derek Ludka and Larry Kennedy) were all wondering what their racing future would hold.  After all, the car was owned not by Thornton but by a humble guy known only as "Hal" who’s interest and support of turbo door slammers led to much of their success in Pro Street in recent years.   Hal made arrangements to move another one of his cars (a white '63 Vanishing Point Corvette) to the west coast from its current home in South Carolina where Vern and Annette Summer have flogged it for several years.   Now painted beautifully in black, thanks to PSCA Limited Street record holder Luis Ceballos, Thornton and the Accufab "Black" team have holstered a new gun and it’s a big one!

PSCA World Finals to Decide 2008 Champions

               Story by Eric Lenore

The PSCA 10th Anniversary Tour has thrilled heads-up fans at each and every event this season and now it all comes down to the Edelbrock World Finals at the Autoclub Dragway. Four of the six heads-up classes have yet to decide a champion. From six second 220+ MPH Pro Streeters to affordable high eight second/low nine second Limited Streeters, the action is nothing short of amazing!!! From the sweet smell of burning rubber to the visceral thunder of a blown alcohol power plant, this event will simply rock your world!!!

In Hughes Performance Pro Street, the championship is coming down to a gun fight between two twin turbo small block Fords. Team Accufab's John Mihovetz holds a 55 point lead over Giuseppe Gentile and the Muscle Motors sponsored Shelby GT 500. As the current ET and MPH record holder, Gentile has an opportunity to earn bonus points if he can reset his existing records. Look for a huge battle between these turbo terrors as both contend for their first PSCA Pro Street Championship.

Brandt Racing Limited Street Car Ready For Finals??

We at Brandt Racing Enterprises have been working on repairs to our Limited Street car following the unfortunate crash at the Las Vegas PSCA Race last weekend. It seems that the damage was more extensive than was originally surveyed. Everyone involved in the repairs have been putting forth long hours in the repairs needed. Our goal as always is to be at the Finals in top form and we will settle for no less than that. We expect to have the car completed and re-painted by next weekend and ready for the race. We have never missed a PSCA Limited Street race since we joined the class many years ago and would like to continue our consistency despite the setbacks that have occurred. We appreciate all of the support we receive from our fellow racers and fans. This was certainly a hurdle to leap but intend on springing back as we always have before.

Frustrated Racer Ready To Race Again.....

After 3 motors and only making 4 passes and missing most of the season we now have a motor that may live.  A 634 BBC, Injected on Alcohol. The short block built by Gil at NRP Racing sounds real healthy.  By the way Gil did a miracle and saved an expensive set of heads with magic welding. Thanks Gil. ( A Dig Dong for you) We hope to be competitive in Quick Street in 2009. The change to alcohol brought many challenges but us old guys finally got a handle on it. It should be a fun ride. No change to the all steel 56 Chevy, weighing in with driver at 4025. ( Now if we have a big buffet at the Cannery, maybe 4050) Yes, the stereo still blasts the Beach Boys while waiting in the staging lanes. We will be re-debuting at the Street Car Super Nationals this Nov 20 - 23 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway dialing in the motor, Hopefully all goes well.....Special thanks to my crew, Rick Holly Crew Chief, Merrill Clanin Always Ready, Rod Holly Full of Advice. Thanks to Mel for having an awesome race program. We broke so much, but it was a pleasure to go to the stands and watch the program. Thanks to the RFC program on Sundays, always there with support for all us racers. Special Thanks to God for allowing us to have this fun.

Sonny's Most Potent N/A Engine To Date To Race PSCA......

We are not at liberty to say just yet what the actual Horsepower numbers are that came off the Sonny Leonard Dyno, but lets just say it may be most HP from a NA engine so far coming out of the Sonny's shop!!! The car being built for this naturally aspirated Monster is a Ness GXP, Brashwell Carburetion will feed the beast and a Liberty Trans with a East-West Clutch will transfer the power to the racing surface... If all the stars and planets line up, testing will be starting in a few weeks and quite possibly we will see this new car at the Street Car Super Nationals Nov 20th - 23rd at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.......

Kelly & Will's Little Inline-6 Finally Gave Up.......

Well the turbocharged, Ford 250 Inline 6 in my wife Kelly's '63 Falcon
committed suicide while warming up to do a pass for the Speed Channel TV show "PassTime". She never even made it on the track. It ate itself during a warm-up drive up the return road at SIR in Tucson, AZ. 4 connecting rods are broke, the other two are bent, one wrist pin and many piston skirts are in the pan. The custom Clay Smith cam is fractured in 4 places. The mains and crank are fine other than a few bruises from the broken rods. Gotta love 7 main bearings! Unknown root cause so far, but could be a fractured #6 cyl. wall which might have hydro-locked the motor. The carnage is so bad it'll be hard to really tell what started the train wreck! Fortunately no obvious damage to the head, valve train or even the pushrods!

Work has already started on getting another motor built up. Depending on the route we take with the motor, we may make the SCSN IV with it. If not, we'll bring another car!

Hairston Motorsports goes in the 6.30's At PSCA Fall Nats.......

Team Hairston Motorsports shocked the entire Las Vegas crowd as Pro Street driver Clint Hairston blasted a mind boggling 6.37 at over 226 MPH during PSCAs test session today at the Mickey Thompson Tires Fall Nationals....  This was over a tenth and 5MPH quicker and faster than they have ever gone before. Rumor has it they bolted on some bigger turbo's and legendary Turbo guru Kenny Duitweiler was in his pits making all the adjustments!!! It was not a fluke as they backed up the pass with a 6.43!!! With performances like this, Just imagine what's going to take place during the highly anticipated Street Car Super Nationals IV this Nov 20-23 at this same awesome Racetrack!!! Good luck to their team as they head into eliminations later on today.. Gates open at 7am and racing from 9 - 5

Top Racer Needs A Donor Mustang.....

As most everyone knows, Chris Groves crashed his Record Holding Mustang at the last PSCA event in Phoenix.  Thankfully, he was not hurt but the car suffered a lot of damage.  It is doubtful that his Team and Chris can get the car back together this season as everyone has a very busy schedule with work and home duties.  Therefore the Owner (Roni Booth) will most likely sell what's left of the car.  The car was damaged in the left front, left rear, and left door.  The drive train was not damaged so all of the record horsepower is still there.  Most of the damage was to the exterior sheet metal.  If anyone has a donor Mustang to help out a fellow racer, please call Roni at 505-379-0341.  Thanks for all your help and concern.

Team OBI returns after 10 month hiatus

After a late season engine failure and chassis cert. expiration sidelined activities, driver Joel Orme decided to take some time off for family reasons. Upon Joel's return from absence, the Team OBI crew sent their Wild Street 1988 Ford Mustang off to the chassis shop. 'Wild Bill', of Hickok Race Car fame, was given the duty of performing the 25.5 updates necessary to remain competitive in the Drag Radial wars that were starting to heat up on the west coast. With the chassis situation all in order, Joel got together with Rocco at A.R.E. Performance & Machine of Simi Valley, CA to freshen the Mustang's bullet as well as make some minor updates while inside the engine. The crew at A.R.E. found some extra, much needed horsepower in the small block power plant to help in the battle against the turbo and supercharged cars of the class.  >>>Read More<<<

Seth-Hunter back on track...

The April PSCA Vegas event seems like it was forever ago but not to Greg Seth-Hunter and his beautiful twin turbo Nova. Greg lost control and nearly totaled the bright blue Chevy and like many who have crashed, he contemplated walking away from the sport we all love... Well after many months and countless hours in the garage, the Nova (Which now sports a flat black paint job) and Greg are ready to go back to the track and erase the memories of that horrible Friday night.  Seth-Hunter, like many of the PSCA racers are going to use this weekends Mickey Thompson Tires Fall Nationals as a "Tune-up" for the highly anticipated Street Car Super Nationals IV later this year on Nov 20-23. Good luck to Greg and his team and we'll see you back in the winner's circle!!

First Picture of Thornton's New Ride......

The '57 may be gone, but Ed Thornton will not be disappointing all his fans when he debuts his new ride at the 2008 PSCA / Edelbrock World Finals this Nov 7-9 at AAA Dragway, Fontana, CA.  The familiar 447ci Twin Turbo will be wedged in-between the frame rails as Ed and his crew look to get in as many laps as possible before the big East vs. West Shootout in Vegas "Street Car Super Nationals IV" Nov 20-23, 2009. Ed would like to thank John at Accufab Racing,  Luis at Symbolic Collision in Ontario for the bitchin' new black paint and his crew (Doug, Shane, Tom & Larry)

Doug will finish up the 2008 PSCA season and attend the Street Car Super Nationals in the Outlaw 10.5 class with his current combo, then switch everything over and be ready to seriously test for the 2009 season in early January.

Dedrickson Making Changes

Longtime PSCA Hughes Performance Pro Street Racer Dave Dedrickson has been hard at work on his Hemi Pontiac Firebird since his unfortunate meeting with a Fontana guardrail earlier this season... Dave is lengthening the chassis to make the ex-Pro Stock ride a little more stable and adding a new lighter, more aerodynamic front clip. The transformation is taking a bit longer than expected since Dave has been doing the majority of the work in-house with the help of his crew... Dave and his team look to be testing later this year and high hopes to be ready to contend for a Hughes Performance Pro Street Championship in 2009......

Griffith/Lenore Headed Back To Vegas

After a 5-month absence from the staging lanes, Team Griffith/Lenore and the very intimidating Blown Viper will once again be slithering around the Las Vegas Strip. Getting some much needed data in preparation for the Street Car Super Nationals is on the mind of crew chief Eric Lenore as the car is ready to be loaded into the hauler and hit the road... This will most likely be the last time this year Bob Griffith will pilot the car as business will take him away during the tail end of the racing season.
