Name:
David Schwarz
Nickname (If any): Haven't been given one yet.
Hometown: San Diego, CA.
Birth date: March 2nd, 1963
Occupation: Owner - Advanced Cellular Dynamics (a San Diego
Biotechnology firm)
Family: Lamia (wife), Robert and Mary Jane (parents),
Suzanne and Larissa (sisters).
Sponsors: San Diego Gear and Axle (with more to come).
Crew Members: The lovely and talented Lamia Schwarz
(when she's available), and team Pineapple Express when in Vegas
(at least until Chuck's team is back in the PSCA fold with his
new ride).
Racing History (series or street): David
began his racing career with the purchase of a 2003 Ford Mach I.
He ran a few bracket races at the historic Carlsbad Raceway
(RIP) before trading in this daily driver for the 1988 Fox body
hatchback that he campaigns today. The hatchback started out as
a 14 second 1/4 mile mule, but with time has slowly evolved to
its present form. The biggest transformation (version 2)
occurred over a two year period spanning from early 2005 to the
end of 2006. During this time, Lamia was kind enough to
surrender the family garage so that David could spend nights and
weekends building a heads-up dedicated car that was campaigned
in Calvert Racing's True Street class during the 2007 season.
The two year build was a true learning experience, as many new
skills - including welding - had to be acquired to complete the
car. Fortunately, David was smart enough to realize that not all
things can be left to a beginner, and he has Josh Deeds to thank
for many of the critical additions including the current 25.5
spec cage, and all things power plant related.
During the building process, David also attended
Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School in Pomona, California, where
he learned how to drive a sub-10 second car under the tutelage
of "Fast" Jack Beckman. This was the first time he
experienced true acceleration, and he has been hooked ever
since.
PSCA Class: Mickey Thompson's Wild Street
Car: Purple
1988 Ford Mustang (version 3)
Best E.T./Speed: 8.52 seconds / 163.78
mph
Future plans for car and or race team: After the 2007
season, a few modifications were introduced that will give David
an opportunity to challenge some of the best PSCA racers for the
class crown. The success of this effort will depend on how long
it takes driver and car to synchronize following the switch to
the new class.
Biggest racing rival(s): The other Wild Street drivers - and
his double-beadlocked rims.
