Class Guidelines
AIR FILTER: All air entering carburetor or throttle body must
pass through an automotive type air filter (K&N type Air Filters are
permitted & suggested)
BODY: The car must retain it's original
appearance and profiles.
BRACKET RACING AIDS: The use of bracket racing aids such as optical sensors,
delay boxes, stutter boxes, and throttle stops are prohibited.
ELIMINATION LADDER: Pro Ladder
FIREWALL: Must retain factory unaltered firewall, in factory
location. A cosmetic overlay is permitted.
INTERIOR / SEATS:
Covered door panels, carpet and
factory dashboard is required. Aftermarket front
seats that have upholstery or covered are permitted. Factory rear seats
can be deleted with carpet overlay.
LETTERING / DECALS:
Right Lower corner of Windshield is reserved for Class
Sponsor (Vortech) and Left Lower for Series Sponsor (Chassisworks) A PSCA Oval decal must be placed on each side of every car in a
visible location before entering the tech area..
RADIATOR: An automotive-type radiator is required.
STARTING LINE: Street Challenge will be utilizing
a 4/10th's Pro Tree Starting System
TRACTION
CONTROL:
Not
Permitted & Strictly
Prohibited
CHASSIS / SUSPENSION
FRAME & CHASSIS: Stock front frame rails must
be retained, rear frame rails may be notched (Not Moved) for tire
clearance. Aftermarket replacement frame rails legal only if all
attaching suspension points are in the factory stock locations.
FRONT SUSPENSION:
Suspension components must all remain in stock locations. Direct bolt-on
A-arms are
permitted. Tubular K-members that are a direct bolt on are permitted.
Vehicle must retain factory
shock system (Struts or relocated shocks are permitted only if one of
the approved front end kits listed below are installed with no
modifications from the aftermarket specs..) Sway bars may be
removed. These Aftermarket Bolt-on Front Ends are legal; Chris Alston's
No-Fab, TCI, AJE or Smith Racecraft Front Suspension kits for Chevy II,
Early Camaro's & Nova's are legal. Since there are many new and
improved kits on the market, Please call for prior approval of whatever
kit you choose to run.
K-MEMBER: Aftermarket replacement bolt on K-Members are permitted.
REAR SUSPENSION: All cars must retain stock rear suspension. Bolt on
traction devices are permitted. Leaf spring relocation kits permitted
for tire clearance only. No rear coil-over conversions permitted. Mini-tubs or modifications to the factory wheel tubs
is permitted.
Factory sway bar may be removed.
WHEEL BASE: Must retain stock wheel base with a maximum variation
right to left and front to back of one inch.
WHEELIE BARS: Wheelie bars prohibited
DRIVE TRAIN
ALL WHEEL DRIVE: Not permitted.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS:
No Restrictions
ENGINE MOUNT LOCATION: Engine must remain in stock location...Engine mounts may be solid.
EXHAUST: Production type mufflers are required
(no exceptions)
No collector inserts permitted. Modification or removal of muffler
internals is prohibited (no gutting).
FUEL / FUEL SYSTEMS:
The PSCA reserves the right to check fuel at any time. Gasoline
is the only fuel permitted. Fuel Cells OK. Mechanical and electric fuel
pumps, pressure regulators, and any line size are allowed
MANUAL TRANSMISSION:
No Restrictions
REAR END: Factory
type rear end only. Housing may be shortened up to 3" from Factory
Specifications. No IRS conversions to solid axles.
POWER ADDER
SINGLE POWER ADDER ONLY: Any single type power
adder is legal. You can have as many nitrous systems (but not in
combination with blower or turbo) You can have twin turbochargers (but
cannot add a nitrous system in conjunction)
STREET LEGAL
REQUIREMENTS
HEADLIGHTS & TAILLIGHT:
All entries are
required to have working headlights and tail lights. On vehicles with
hidden style headlights, OEM assemblies are required (headlight doors
must be fixed open or work manually or automatically) Brake lights, turn signals are not required
operate.
TIRES: Front tires must be DOT Approved and have a minimum tread width of 4.5
inches. Rear tires must be a true
"off the shelf" radial tire with a minimum tread rating of "180". Tire
size is based off a P255/60 R15. 16-18in "off the shelf" radials
permitted but cannot exceed the following dimensions: 10.25" section
width, 8.2" tread width, 27.0" overall diameter. The tread of these tires must not
protrude outside the body line at the top of the tire. If your car came
from the factory with a tread rating lower than 180, bring factory info
on the tires with proof tires came with vehicle.
NO DRAG RADIALS, ROAD RACE, RE-CAPS, SNOW
TIRES PERMITTED, ALSO, no adding in any manner of chemicals
(Track-Bite, etc...) or "Soaking" to soften the tire rubber is allowed
and will result in an immediate disqualification...
WEIGHT GUIDE:
Cars
will not be weighed!!!
PSCA Required Decals:
Class Sponsor Decal
A Vortech decal must be installed on base of windshield on the
passenger side. (Bottom left hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)
before entering the tech area..
PSCA Oval Decals
1 PSCA Oval decal must be placed on each side of every car in a
visible location before entering the tech area..
Series Sponsor Decal
Chris Alston's Chassisworks decal must be installed on base of windshield on the
driver's side. (Bottom right hand side when looking at front of vehicle
windshield)
Contingency
Program & Contingency Decals
In order to become eligible for PSCA official contingency
program, You must first become a member of the PSCA. You can do this at
the PSCA Event Trailer during registration or on-line at the PSCA
Store. In order to receive Contingency Monies from any of the
listed Contingency Sponsors, you must have the correct product listed
and matching Contingency Decal for that product on your car for the
entire PSCA Racing Event... Racers will be checked for Products &
Decals while being teched in and winners & runner-ups again will be
checked in the Winner's Circle after the conclusion of each event.
Winners & Runner-ups failing to show up for this mandatory Inspection
will forfeit all Contingency Money that is owed!!!!
All Contingency Decals may appear anywhere on the vehicle in a clear and
organized fashion. Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified.
Most decals are available at the PSCA Event Trailer, but in the event
the PSCA does not have the decals in stock, it is the racer's
responsibility to obtain the proper decals to be eligible for the
Contingency payout. Penalties
for
violating any PSCA Class Or
Contingency Program Rules Penalties will vary for any PSCA Class
or Contingency Program Rule violation's from
Championship Point Deduction, Race Suspension, Probation and/or Re-instatement
Fine (Paid to St Jude In the name of the PSCA) If you are in any
violation that directly effects our "Electronics Policies"
(Example: Use of a Delay Box, Use of a Throttle Stop, etc..) You can receive the Maximum Penalty
(Disqualification from Event with loss of 50 Championship Points,
Two-Race Suspension and a $500 Re-Instatement Donation) You will also be
listed on a Web Page for all to view what violation and penalty any
racer receives..
RACE DAY
POLICY'S
Registering For The Class: All Street Challenge Racers must register
(Please bring your NHRA Track Tech Card with you) at the PSCA Event
Trailer before taking your car to tech....
Alternating Lanes During
Qualifying: Each Street Challenge driver
must alternate lanes during qualifying. Even if you skip a session, you
must run the opposite lane you made your previous run in. If you choose
to ignore this rule, your second consecutive pass in the same lane will
be disqualified.
TOW BACK &
TOW VEHICLES:
Street Challenge does not allow tow vehicles of any sort... All Street
Challenge vehicles must drive to the staging lanes and return to pits without the aide of any other
Motorized Vehicle, Golf Cart, Quad, Scooter, etc...
BYE-RUNS:
All vehicles must take the tree, and run down the 1/4 mile.
PAYOUTS:
All Street Challenge Racers that earn prize money can go directly to the
PSCA trailer after eliminations and pick up his/her Winnings.
Winners Circle Picture & Contingency Verification:
Street Challenge Winner & Runner-up must return to the PSCA Winners Circle
Area for Official Photographs and Contingency Verification. Failing to
do so, will result in loss of all contingency monies earned. There are
no exceptions!!!
