Street Challenge is a heads-up class designed for street driven muscle cars and late model factory hotrods with affordability in mind. With only minor modifications, a single power adder and a set of "TRUE" street radial tires and you got one of the toughest classes to tame.

 

      Class Guidelines

STARTING LINE: Street Challenge will be utilizing a 4/10th's Pro Tree Starting System

ELIMINATION LADDER: TBD

BODY: The car must retain it's original appearance and profiles. All body parts must be intact including inner bumper supports. Aftermarket fiberglass replacement panels are limited to hood only. Aftermarket fiberglass spoilers are permitted.

LETTERING / DECALS: Car lettering is limited to windows only. Right Lower corner of Windshield is reserved for Class Sponsor (Symbolic Collision) and Left Lower for Series Sponsor (Chassisworks)

FIREWALL: Must retain factory unaltered firewall, in factory location. A cosmetic overlay is permitted.

HOOD / SCOOPS: Forward facing hood scoops are prohibited (unless factory equipped for year and model entered). Fiberglass replacement hoods (cowl) are permitted, but limited to 4 inches in height.

INTERIOR / SEATS: All factory interior pieces must be in factory locations. Factory door panels, headliner, carpet and dashboard are required. Factory front and rear seats are required. Aftermarket front seats that match factory interior permitted. (Aluminum, plastic, or any other type of drag or road racing seats are prohibited).

WINDOWS: Must be of safety glass. No lexan permitted. All windows must be fully operational.

BRACKET RACING AIDS: The use of bracket racing aids such as optical sensors, delay boxes, stutter boxes, and throttle stops are prohibited.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION

FRAME & CHASSIS: Stock frame rails must be retained front and rear and be unaltered. Sub frame connectors are permitted.

FRONT SUSPENSION: All cars must retain factory stock-type suspension. Front frame rails, radiator core support, and inner fender sheet metal must remain in stock location (trimming for header clearance permitted). Aftermarket tubular control arms, coil over kits, or OEM front strut retrofits are permitted. But must be a direct bolt on, no welding modifications permitted. Aftermarket Racing Struts with spindle mounts or hub mounts designed for tube type front ends are prohibited. Stock wheelbase will be enforced on all vehicles. Aftermarket Rack & Pinion Steering is permitted on car that did not come factory equipped. Factory sway bar may be removed. Chassisworks No-Fab, Smith Racecraft aftermarket bolt on front suspension kits are not legal.

Roll Car: 6 or 8 point roll bars permitted only (No roll cages)

FRONT BRAKES: Upgrading the Brake System is permitted, however, No lightweight Drag Racing Brake Systems are allowed.

K-MEMBER: Aftermarket replacement bolt on K-Members are permitted.

REAR SUSPENSION: All cars must retain stock rear suspension. Bolt on traction devices are permitted. Leaf spring relocation kits permitted for tire clearance only. No rear coil-over conversions permitted. No Mini-tubs or any modifications to the factory wheel tubs permitted. Rear Shocks must maintain factory angle. Anti-Roll Bars are not permitted. Factory sway bar may be removed.

ADDING BALLAST: Permanently attached ballast may be added in a NHRA legal manner. Removable ballast for the purpose of classification adjustments is limited to 100 lbs. in a NHRA Approved weight box, with a total of 500 lbs (Permanent & Removable) distributed evenly throughout the car.

WHEEL BASE: Must retain stock wheel base with a maximum variation right to left and front to back of one inch.

WHEELIE BARS: Wheelie bars prohibited

DRIVE TRAIN

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS: No two speed transmissions allowed. No trans-brakes, no electric or air shifters permitted. Aftermarket torque converters, shift kit, valve body, shifter, and pan cooler use are permitted.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION: Factory and Aftermarket manual transmissions are allowed. Clutch-less versions, Jerico, Liberty, or Lenco type transmissions are not permitted. All shifts must be made manually without the aid of electric or pneumatic devices. Also, clutch operation must be manual.

ALL WHEEL DRIVE: Not permitted.

REAR END: Factory type rear end only. Housing may not be altered or shortened. No IRS conversions to solid axles.

ENGINE ACCESSORIES: Must have minimum of water pump and alternator.

ENGINE BLOCK: Aftermarket blocks permitted.  Maximum cubic inch size is 370 (For Power Adder entries) No tall decks allowed.. Aluminum blocks illegal (Unless factory equipped for year and model entered)

CAMSHAFT: Any camshaft combination allowed.

CARBURETOR / THROTTLE BODY: Carburetor limited to a single conventional 750 cfm(4150 type design). Carburetor is limited to 750cfm MAX. Carb modifications limited to removal of choke horn only. Polishing of ventures, fitting of the throttle shafts, metering and booster plate modification, aftermarket metering blocks, and changing of throttle plate diameter is strictly prohibited. Single carb spacers limited to 1 inch, including Nitrous Plate and Gaskets. No dominators type carbs allowed. Throttle body limited to a single 75 mm max. Duel throttle bodies legal if factory equipped however, they will be limited to a 80mm single mass air meter.

EFI: (Electronic Fuel Injection) Factory fuel injection systems with the factory computer must be in use. Commercially available "plug-in" chips are OK. No DFI or aftermarket injection systems permitted, unless factory computer is functional. Laptops used in any manner (Tuning, Recording Data, etc...) in any EFI car is not permitted, with no EXCEPTIONS. With all the new aftermarket systems continuously being released, please call on any aftermarket system before you enter an event!!

AIR FILTER: All air entering carburetor or throttle body must pass through an automotive type air filter (K&N type Air Filters are permitted)

ENGINE MOUNT LOCATION: Engine must remain in stock location and retain factory type engine mounts. No motor plates allowed. Engine mounts may be solid.

OILING SYSTEM: Must be a factory type.

CYLINDER HEADS: Aftermarket cast iron or aluminum cylinder heads allowed, but retain the factory valve angle +/- 2 degrees. Porting allowed. Welding, epoxy, raise ports, and exotic modifications strictly prohibited. See approved list below:

INTAKE MANIFOLD: Any commercially available, mass produced manifolds permitted. No sheet metal or other composite manifolds permitted of any type, unless factory equipped.

EXHAUST: Production type mufflers are required. No collector inserts permitted. Modification or removal of muffler internals is prohibited (no gutting). Exhaust must have Tailpipes that at least extend to the rear of the back tires. Maximum exhaust pipe diameter is 3 inches for dual and 3.5 for single exhaust.

IGNITION: No MSD 7530,7531 or similar boxes allowed. (Call for clarification)

FUEL / FUEL SYSTEMS: The PSCA reserves the right to check fuel at any time. Gasoline is the only fuel permitted. Car must retain factory fuel tank (Lower sump add-ons are permitted) Mechanical and electric fuel pumps, pressure regulators, and any line size are allowed. 

ELECTRICAL: Battery may be relocated and limited to 1 single 12-volt. Electrical fans allowed. The charging system must be operative and must be mounted in the engine compartment. Electric water pumps are strictly prohibited. 16-volt systems not permitted.

ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS / DATA RECORDERS: On board diagnostic computers and recorders strictly prohibited. Memory and playback tachometers are allowed.

RADIATOR: An automotive-type radiator is required.

POWER ADDERS

NITROUS: Nitrous is limited to a conventional single stage 2 Spray Bar Plate System or a Single Fogger Nozzle (wet or dry). 2 Spray Bars in the plenum are legal in lieu of nitrous plate, but call for prior approval.  Two solenoids for nitrous system MAX (1 Nitrous & 1 Fuel) Nitrous Solenoid is limited to a .110 orifice.  No Purge Systems Allowed.  Plate has to be commercially available using spray bars only (With Max Nitrous Jet Size .085) Cross Bar Plates are not permitted.  System can only use one 10lb bottle, with a dash 4 line from bottle to nitrous solenoid. Bottle must be mounted in trunk.  No progressive type controllers allowed.

SUPERCHARGER: Single centrifugal or small roots superchargers are permitted. No cog belt systems, 8 rib normal size serpentine belt max. 7.25" MAX Lower Pulley.

TURBO: 62mm MAX single only. No manual or electronic boost controllers..

INTER & AFTERCOOLERS: Air to Air Intercoolers permitted only (See weight add below in "Weight Guide" Any Aftercooler allowed (See weight add below in "Weight Guide"

STREET LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

INSURANCE & REGISTRATION: All vehicles must be currently registered and insured.

HEADLIGHTS & TURN SIGNALS: All entries are required to have working headlights and tail lights (headlights doors must be fixed open or work manually or automatically on cars so equipped). Brake lights, turn signals are required.

TIRES: Front tires must be DOT Approved and have a minimum tread width of 4.5 inches. Rear tires must be a true "off the shelf" radial tire with a minimum tread rating of "180". Tire size is based off a P255/60 R15. 16-18in "off the shelf" radials permitted but cannot exceed the following dimensions: 10.25" section width, 8.2" tread width, 27.0" overall diameter. The tread of these tires must not protrude outside the body line at the top of the tire. If your car came from the factory with a tread rating lower than 180, bring factory info on the tires with proof tires came with vehicle.
NO DRAG RADIALS, ROAD RACE, RE-CAPS, SNOW TIRES PERMITTED, ALSO,  no adding in any manner of chemicals (Track-Bite, etc...) or "Soaking" to soften the tire rubber is allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification...

STREET CHALLENGE

Small Block / No Power Adder:
370ci & less  / 3100lbs
371ci - 412ci (Max)  / 3400lbs

Small Block / With Power Adder / 370ci Max:
Nitrous Oxide / 3400lbs
Turbo or Supercharger / 3500lbs

Big Block / No Power Adder:
Up To 509ci (Max)   / 3600lbs

ADD WEIGHT:

Add 100lbs for the use of a intercooler. Air to Air only.
Add 100lbs for the use of a aftercooler. 

PSCA Required Decals:
Class Sponsor Decal 

Symbolic Collision Decal must be installed on base of windshield on the passenger side. (Bottom left hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield) before entering the tech area..
PSCA Oval Decals 

1 PSCA Oval decal must be placed on each side of every car in a visible location before entering the tech area..
Series Sponsor Decal 
Chris Alston's Chassisworks decal must be installed on base of windshield on the drivers side. (Bottom right hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)

Contingency Program & Contingency Decals:
  In order to become eligible for PSCA official contingency program, You must first become a member of the PSCA. You can do this at the PSCA Event Trailer during registration or on-line at the PSCA Store. In order to receive Contingency Monies from any of the listed Contingency Sponsors, you must have the correct product listed and matching Contingency Decal for that product on your car for the entire PSCA Racing Event... Racers will be checked for Products & Decals while be teched in and winners & runner-ups again will be checked in the Winner's Circle after the conclusion of each event. Winners & Runner-ups failing to show up for this mandatory Inspection will forfeit all Contingency Money that is owed!!!! All Contingency Decals may appear anywhere on the vehicle in a clear and organized fashion. Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified. Most decals are available at the PSCA Event Trailer, but in the event the PSCA does not have the decals in stock, it is the racer's responsibility to obtain the proper decals to be eligible for the Contingency payout.

Penalties For Violating any PSCA Class Or Contingency Program Rules:
Penalties will vary for any PSCA Class & Contingency Program Rule violation's from Championship Point Deduction, Race Suspension, Probation and/or Re-instatement Fine (Paid to St Jude In the name of the PSCA) If you are in any violation that directly effects our "Electronics Policies" (Example: Use of a Delay Box, Use of a Throttle Stop, etc..) You can receive the Maximum Penalty (Disqualification from Event with loss of 50 Championship Points, Two-Race Suspension and a $500 Re-Instatement Donation) You will also be listed on a Web Page for all to view what violation and penalty any racer receives..

RACE DAY POLICY'S
Registering For The Class: 
All Street Challenge Racers must register (Please bring your NHRA Track Tech Card with you) at the PSCA Event Trailer before taking your car to tech....

SCALES:
After each qualifying and elimination pass, all Street Challenge cars must stop and weigh at the track scales. If you lose in eliminations, and your opponent fails to make weight you will be reinstated into the eliminations only if you made minimum weight requirements. If both cars failed to make minimum weight, both cars will be disqualified. It is the driver's responsibility to verify with each track scale, the weight of his/her car prior to each race day. There will 5lb error factor allowed. 

Alternating Lanes During Qualifying:
Each
Street Challenge driver must alternate lanes during qualifying. Even if you skip a session, you must run the opposite lane you made your previous run in. If you choose to ignore this rule, your second consecutive pass in the same lane will be disqualified.

TOW BACK & TOW VEHICLES:
Street Challenge does not allow tow vehicles of any sort... All Street Challenge vehicles must drive to the staging lanes, scales and return to pits without the aide of any other Motorized Vehicle, Golf Cart, Quad, Scooter, etc...

BYE-RUNS:
All vehicles must take the tree, and run down the 1/4 mile.

PAYOUTS:
  All
Street Challenge Racers that earn prize money can go directly to the PSCA trailer after eliminations and pick up his/her Winnings.

Winners Circle Picture & Contingency Verification:
 
Street Challenge Winner & Runner-up must return to the PSCA Winners Circle Area for Official Photographs and Contingency Verification. Failing to do so, will result in loss of all contingency monies earned. There are no exceptions!!!
